Overview

Regence Foundation’s $25,600 grant funds 865 medical visits for uninsured
Utah Partners in Health award helps residents in Magna, Kearns and West Valley City

  • The Regence Foundation is the corporate foundation of The Regence Group, the largest health insurer in the Northwest⁄Intermountain region.
  • The Foundation is committed to three funding priorities: Building Healthier Communities, Transforming Health Care, and supporting End-of-Life issues.
  • The Foundation believes in the power of philanthropy to drive meaningful change in the health care system, and will provide an estimated $4 million a year ($2.5 million its first year) in support across Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

Three Funding Priorities

  • Building Healthier Communities
    • The Foundation supports innovative work that transforms health care and addresses core problems in our health care system – with a particular focus on access to care.
    • Funding will target nonprofit organizations that provide safety net services and work to solve the root problems of health care access.
  • Transforming Health Care
    • The Foundation supports patient-doctor partnerships that encourage patients to make health care choices based on variables such as treatment options, quality outcomes, cost and satisfaction ratings.
    • Funding will target organizations, specifically technological innovators, that provide patients the tools they need to compare health care cost and quality and make decisions that will result in more patient-focused, value-driven health care.
  • End-of-Life Issues
    • The Foundation supports organizations working to transform how end–of–life issues are approached within the health care system.
    • This funding program is still under development.

A 501(c)3 grantmaking organization, the Foundation partners with organizations driving significant change in health care delivery and accessibility in Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Washington. Starting in late 2008, the Foundation will also partner with organizations working to improve end–of–life issues.
